Stiff Neck Remedy
Are you unable to move your head in a specific direction? You probably have acute ‘torticollis’ or muscle spasm.
Following a recent moment of insanity, I took a ride on Canada’s Wonderland’s BIG BIG ENORMOUS BEHEMOTH (take the ride here) and I now have a stiff neck.
Causes Of Stiff Neck
When does your stiff neck require a medical evaluation? If you have the following symptoms you should see a health care provider:
- numbness or tingling
- loss of arm strength
- recent accident
- extreme pain
- fever
- dizziness
- breathing/swallowing is difficult
- visual changes
If you want an even better idea of how severe your neck symptoms are then download a pdf of the Neck Disability Index and then score it HERE.
Neck Muscle Spasm
Most acute muscle spasm in the neck responds to physical intervention. Sometimes the symptoms resolve on their own. Stretching, adjustments (from a chiropractor) and massage usually help and I have been doing all of them and feel much better.
I’d love your comments on this (do you have a stiff neck? what have you tried?)-drop them in the comments box below this article.

EX RAY INDICATES ATHRITIC MOVEMENT TURNED MY HEAD LEFT AND RIGHT 10 TIMES HOLDING FOR A COUNT OF 10 EACH SIDE. I DO THIS ONCE A DAY.HELPS ALOT
BUT PAIN PERSIST. HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS? THANKS
Thank you for your question. I can’t safely advise you on specific exercises as I am not your chiropractor and have not examined you. If your xrays show arthritis you need to make sure your diet isn’t acidic (read this:http://bit.ly/u55gfP) that you don’t jog but stay active (read this:http://bit.ly/zi686I) and do appropriate and regular posture exercises (consider this:http://bit.ly/nZHTGs). A little and often. Keep going! Paula
[..YouTube..] Thanks for all the cool and very helpful videos!
[..YouTube..] don’t sit for more than 45mins to an hour at a time, take breaks! The body was not designed for extended periods of sitting still, it tends to stagnate and that can cause permanent RSI which can take a lot of effort and stretching/exercises to manage and get relief from. So be aware of your habits, learn to take breaks, and get on a routine of stretching and exercising daily.

[..YouTube..] If you have a damaged tendon you need to ask this question of the practitioner who gave you that diagnosis. That is the safest thing to do. Thank you for your question.
[..YouTube..] will these exercises work on a recently damaged tendon in my neck?
[..YouTube..] that makes sense. But when I’m at the office, I’m in front of a computer 9 hours or more. When I get up, I can’t do your exercises because tilting my head back causes a nasty stiff neck most of the time. But throwing my head around avoids stiffness almost all the time.I do go to the chiropractor – so fear not.

[..YouTube..] Fantastic! Thanks for sharing that.
[..YouTube..] @brandonhughes7 Fantastic! Thanks for sharing that.
[..YouTube..] I hope you are not doing self manipulation. Self manipulation (snap snap snap) causes temporary relief as you manipulate some of the neck joints. The problem with self manipulation is that the joints that get manipulated are the ones already too mobile and doing this causes more hypermobility. You need to see a professional who can ‘adjust’ the joints that are truly fixed so the hypermobile segments regain normal mobility. Perhaps you meant just a stretch you give yourself-that is ok!

[..YouTube..] It takes me five seconds X 2 to fix a stiff neck – tendon out of place. I lay on my left side and pull with my right hand. I lay on my right side and pull up with my left hand.Snap-snap-snap-snap-snap done.
[..YouTube..] my neck has been in pain for about a day i tryed this and it remove almost all the pain.. thank you
[..YouTube..] thanxxxxx alot …… it really worked….it eased stiffness of my neck….
[..YouTube..] GRAZIE MOLTE DELLE TUE LEZIONI DALL’ITALIA
I have a very stiff, hurting neck, partly from forward head posture and from injuring my neck by trying to pick up a too-heavy painting. I do chiropractic but still have pains shooting from my neck to the top of my head. One thing I tried today was an upper back and neck massage. This helped a lot and I’ll continue to do this for a while. Also, I’ll see a physical therapist tomorrow for an evaluation to see if that will help my condition. I love your videos and will do your exercises faithfully. Thanks, Pat Smith
Hi Pat, I’m so glad you are enjoying the videos! It is important to begin any new exercise routine under the care of a health professional. If you are getting physical treatment and the symptoms come back then I would guess that your posture hasn’t been addressed and it needs to be in you want lasting changes to your health. Please join us and become a posture pupil (http://bit.ly/qaXXeX) to be first to receive our posture tips.
[..YouTube..] The best way to have me assess your posture is by using Picture Posture Analysis. Find this under ‘Best Posture Products’ on my PostureVideos website. The bone sticking out appearance is often due to our altered alignment at the base of the neck and as the upper neck vertebrae shift forward (much like a slinky) the lower vertebrae stand out more obviously.
[..YouTube..] Thank you so much!!I have a question….i have a bone sticking out of the back of my neck (dunno if that makes sense)….what can I do about it? I guess this comes from my forward head posture…
